Arbutus

(ar-bu'-tus). A genus of ericaceous shrubs and trees. A. menziesii, the madrono of California, has an astringent bark, useful in diarrheas. Unof. A. une do, the European arbute, is astringent and narcotic. A., Trailing. See Epigaa.
