Organ, one on each side of the spinal column just below the last ribs, shaped somewhat like a bean, and in man ab. 4 in. in length, 21⁄2 in breadth, and 14 in thickne , and weighing from 4 to 5 ounces. It consists of a large number of fine tubes surrounded by blood-ve els, which deliver the urine into a common receptacle, the pelvis, whence it pa es into the bladder through the ureter.
