(kõl-lō'de-in.) [From Gr. kolla, glue, and eidos, similarity.) (Chem.) A solution in ether, containing a little of alcohol, of xyloidin, a substance formed by treating starch and other things of the same cla with nitric acid. On account of its adhesive properties it is used in pharmacy for forming an artificial skin on abraded surfaces, but its chief employment is in coating plates of gla for photographic images.
