cinnamon

(sin’am-on) [L.; Gr. κίναμον]. The drei inner bark of various species of Cinnasno’ num: the varieties recognized in the U. S. P. are ( Saigon’icum, Saigon cinnamon, and C. seylan’icum. or Ceylon cinnamon. It is an agreeable aromatic and cordial, carminative, and astringent. Dos in powder, 10-20 gr. (0.65-1.3 gm.):; of cinnamon water, 1-2 fl.oz. (32-64 c.c.); of tincture, 4-2 fldr. (2-8 c.c.); of oil, 1-5 min. (0.065-0.33 cc). oil of c., a fragrant. volatile oil, af somewhat various physical qualities, derived from cinnamon bark. Dose, 1-5 min. (0.c65- 0.333 C.C.).
