(bilj.) [A.S. bælg, or bylg, a bulging.] (Naut.) The bottom of a ship's floor-timbers, or the width of the part she rests upon when on the ground. -Bilge-water is the water which accumulates on her floor below the level of the pump-well.-Bilge-pumps, or burr-pumps, apparatus which carry off the bilge-water.
