Christopher Colon, an American military officer; born in New York, July 10, 1821; was graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1843; became Major of the 13th United States Infantry in 1861; Colonel of the 12th Infantry in 1866; Brigadier-General, United States army, March 4, 1869; Major- General in the volunteer service in 1862; mustered out of that service in 1866; and was retired in the regular army, July 16, 1885. He commanded a division in the battle of i ad Mountain, being severely wodnded. He died in Washington, D. C., Jan. 16, 1898.
