[Mod. Latin, ., myric (a); -in ( Chem.).] Chem. That portion of common beeswax which is insoluble in boiling alcohol. It consists chiefly of myricyl palmitate, C16H31 (C30H61) O2, and when heated with potash, is decomposed in the same manner as spermaceti, yielding pota ium palmitate and myricyl alcohol. mỹr-1-çěl, s.
