Massena

[Perhaps named after Marshal Ma ena, who failed before Wellington's lines at Torres Vedras, and had to retreat from Portugal.] (See the compound.) Ma ena-trogon, s . Ornith.: Trogon ma ena, a species from tropical South America. It is about a foot in length, dark bronze-green above, with the smaller wing feathers speckled white and black, and the belly of a beautiful carmine.
