Rope acro Niagara was 400 yards long, and Blond in made his first cro ing on June 30, 1859. The rope was only three inches thick, but cost over,£1000, being made entirely of hemp. In i860 Blond in cro ed it ' on stilts ’ in the presence of the Prince of Wales, and was photographed standing still in the middle. He also walked acro in a sack, wheeled a barrow acro , turned somersaults, cooked his dinner, and carried a man over on his back.
