gymnema

[Gr. gymnos-naked, and nēma yarn; neo = to spin; named from the naked stamens.] Bot.: A genus of Asclepiadacese, tribe Stapelieæ. Gymnema lactiferum has been reported to be the cow plant, or Kiriaghuna plant, of Ceylon, the milk of which the natives use as food, boiling and eating the leaves also.
