Gymnema

[Gr. gymnos, naked; nema, filament.] (Bot.) A genus of plants, order Asclepiadacese. The species G. lactifera, a native of Ceylon, yields a nutritious milk which is used as human food. It is called, on this account, the Cow-plant.
