Revival of Platonism as a theosophy, fused with magic, theurgy, and popular mythology. Its period was ab. 175-530; it yielded at last to Christianity, which it strongly tinged. Its chief teachers were Ammonius Saccas, Plot in us, Porphyry, Iamb lich us, and Proclus.
