(hem-op’tis-is) [Gr. ala blood+ πτύειν to spit]. The spitting of blood. endemic h. See tochil. parasitic h., a disease caused by infection of the lungs with Purago'nim us wester man'ti. It is marked by cough and spitting of blood and by gradual deterioration of health. Called also pulmonary dis tomato sis and lung-fluke disease.
