Hemoptysis

(hem-op' -tis-is) fia, blood; irrveiv, to spit. The spitting of blood. The term is confined usually to the expectoration of blood from the lungs. It may be slight or profuse, and death may result from suffocation. The blood is frothy and bright -red. H., Parasitic. See Distoma ringer i.
