FRAUS

Lat. Fraud. More commonly called, in the civil law, "dol us," and "doZus ma.Zus," (q. v.) A distinction, however, was sometimes made between "frautl'' and "dol us;" the former being held to be of the most extensive import. Calvin. -Fraus dans locll.Dl contractui. A misrepresentation or concealment of some fact that ta material to the contra.et, and had the truth regarding which been known the contract would ~ot have been made as made, is called a "fraud dans looum contractwi;" i. e., a fraud occasioning the contract, or giving place or occasion for the contract.-Fraus leg is.
