(kah-noo'.) [Of Indian der iv.) A small boat, formed of the trunk of a tree, hollowed out by cutting or burning; and sometimes also of strips of bark fastened together. It is impelled by paddles instead of oars, and is used by uncivilized nations in both hemispheres. [s. 138]
