(Gr. vou>(, a temple, or votZs, a ve el.) In Architecture, that part of a temple enclosed by the walls. The part in front of it was called pronnos, and that in the rear post i cum. In modern architecture, it is the middle part or alley of a church, between the aisles or wings. [s. 817]
