(kash’e-ah) (L.; Gr. xacia]. A genus of leguminous trees and ‘herbs. C. acutifo'lia and C. elonga’ta, of North Africa and South Asia, afford senna. C. marilan'dica, a herb of the United States, gives an inferior kind of senna. c.-bark, trade name of Chinese cinnamon. See Cinnemon. c.-buds, the unripe fruit of various species of Cinnamo’mum. C. fis’tula, a tree of the East Indies; also the pulp of its dried laxative fruit. Dose, 1-2 dr. (4-8 gm.).
