(al’o-in). A purgative glucosid, C,,H,,O,, from aloes of several varieties, as barbaloin, nataloin, so calo in, and zanaloin. It occurs in the form of fine crystals of extremely bitter taste, soluble in hot water and alcohol. Laxative dose, 4 gr. (0.032 gm.); purgative dose, 2 gr. (0.13 gm.).
