[s. 245] : A town in the United Provinces, Jumna River, 85 miles west by north of Cawnpore. It is a pleasant place, very picturesque, and contains several buildings of importance. It is regarded as the healthiest town on the plains of India. The population is (1891) 38,800, of whom 26,000 are Hindus and about 11,000 Mohammedans.
