a town, India, United Provinces, capital of district of the same name, on left bank of the Jumna, picturesquely situated among ravines, and richly planted with trees. It has some good buildings, and a considerable trade. Pop. 41,558.—The district has an area of 1,691 sq. miles, and a pop. of 760,120.
