EVERGREEN

a plant that retains its verdure through all the seasons, as the fir, the holly, the laurel, the cedar, the eypre , the juniper, the holnoak, and many others. Evergreens shed their old leaves in the spring or summer, after the new foliage has been formed, and consequently are verdant through all the winter season. They form a considerable part of the sbrubs commonly eultivated in gardens, and are beautiful at all seasons of the year.
