Cambyses

(kām-bī'sez,) second king of the Medes and Persians, s. his father Cyrus, B. c. 529. He subjected Egypt, 525; and, after an unsucce ful expedition into Ethiopia, returned to Egypt, where he committed numberle cruelties, which have been attributed to the lo of his reason.
