Keelson

The keelson is composed (like the keel) of various pieces of timber, connected endwise and placed on the floors just over the keel, extending all fore and aft. Bolts are driven through the keelson, through every floor, and the keel. The siding and moulding of a keelson is usually a trifle heavier than that of the keel. See Plate 7. 4.
