Quarantine

The detention of a ve el arriving from a Port,- where contagious sickne , as yellow fever etc. is suspected to prevail; during a certain number of days all communication with the shore and with other ve els in the Port is prohibited by Authority and a place near t or far from that of her destination, appointed for her to lie at for the allotted time.
