Phosphorescence

—A manifestation of luminescence, in which light, previously absorbed, is emitted by a body for a considerable time after the original source of light has ceased to act upon it. Hither due to slow oxidation attended with light as in phosphorus, or by the molecular vibrations causing the emi ion of light after the source of light has been removed.
