Turanian nomads from the plains n. of China. Part settled by the Caspian Sea, part drove the Goths acro the Danube 376. Under Attila they ravaged the fairest portions of the Roman Empire 434-453, ceasing only on payment of tribute. They disappear from history soon after Attila's death.
