Ailanthus

(a'lan'tus.) (Bot.) A gen. of deciduous trees, with pinnate leaves, O. Xanthoxyl acer. The species A. glandulosa, introduced into the U. States from China, grows in the open air with us, and its leaves afford food to Bombyx Cynthia, the silk-worm. [s. 14]
