Indium

In. At.wt. 113.7, sp.gr. 7.42, sp.ht..056, valence III., mpt. 176°C. Discovered by Reich and Richter 1863. Rar silvery white, soft, tenacious metal, not acted upon by the air at ordinary temperatures. It can be distilled at high temperature, is soluble in nitric acid, and with difficulty in hydro hydrochloric and sulphuric acids. It occurs in very small quantities in certain zinc blendes from the Hartz and Freiberg.
