Reversed-frames

Angle-bars somewhat le in size than those forming the frames; they are placed in a reversed position and riveted to the latter for greater strength. The frames (as already stated) extend in one length from the keel to the upper-deck, poop-, or forecastle-deck etc., which is not the case with the reversed-frames. In some ve els all the reversed-frames extend to the same height as the frames, in other instances they reach alternately only to the upper-, and main-deck or to the main-, and lower-deck; and in small ve els often to the upper turn of the bilge only. The reversed-fi ames are riveted to the frames from the upper end of each down to the floor-heads where they separate, the frames following and being connected to the lower edge of the floors, and the reversed frames to the upper edge.
