(me'de-um.) Eng. pl. MEDIUMS; L. MEDIA. [From L. medius, middle.] Generally, the means or instrument by which anything is accomplished, conveyed, or carried on; thus, money is the M. of commerce.-(Philos.) The space or region through which abo dy in motion pa es to any point thus, air is the M. in which bodies move near our earth; water, that in which fishes live and move; and we likewise speak of a resisting M., a refracting M., & c. - (Paint.) The liquid vehicle used in the grinding and intermixing of dry colors before being used.-(Magnet.) A person through whom is transmitted the action of another being.-(Spiritualism.)
