the most westerly island of the Azores, about 30 miles long by 9 miles broad, with a hilly surface. The chief products are wheat, pulse, and poultry, and great numbers of small cattle are reared. Flores was the station of the English fleet before the fight between Sir Richard Grenville in the Revenge and fifty-three Spanish ve els in 1591. Pop. about 10,850.
