Anemia

{an-ef -me-aJi) [dvpriv.; auia, blood]. Deficiency of blood as a whole, or deficiency of the number of the red corpuscles, or of the hemoglobin. It may be general or local. Local anemia, or ischemia, is the result of mechanical interference with the circulation of the affected part. General anemia is either idiopathic or symptomatic. A., Cytogenic.
