Battery

Two or more pieces of artillery; also the emplacement of guns for attack or defense. In military engineering batteries are cla ed according to their use, the direction of their fire, and the method of construction of their protecting cover. We thus have Barbette, Covered Breaching. Direct, Oblique, Raised, Horizontal, Sunken Enfilading, Indented, Reverse, Counter, and Masked batteries.
