(Gr. em, upon, and <pepoy, 1 bear.) In Rhetoric, the emphatic repetition of a word or series of words at the end of several sentences or stanzas. The finest instance of this figure with which we are acquainted in modern oratory occurs in Fox's defence of himself and his measures in the House of Commons after the di olution of the Coalition Ministry.
