Adams, John

the patriarch of Pitcairn's Island, and one of the mutineers of the English ship Bounty, 1789. He settled with several others in Pitcairn's Island, and became, from a rough and desperate character, a hu mane and religious man; he introduced Christianity and the laws of marriage amongst those that were with him on the island, and regulated the community entirely upon Christian principles. D. 1829.
