(ar-rest'.) [From Fr. arrêter, to stop.] (Law.) The apprehending and restraining a person, which, in all cases, except treason, felony, and breach of the peace, must be done by virtue of a warrant from some court, or some person authorized to grant it.-A. of Judgment, is the a igning just reasons why judgment should not pa ; a material defect in the pleading; when the record differs from the deed pleaded; when more is given by the verdict than is laid in the declaration, .
