(re'al.) [From L. res, an object.] (Law.) An opithet applied to things permanent and immovable as, real estate, consisting of lands, tenements, and hereditaments, in distinction from personal or movable property. R. a ets are a ets consisting in real estate, or lands and tenements descendible to an heir, sufficient to make good the charges upon the estate created by the ancestor. A real action is a suit for the recovery of real estate. R. PRESENCE. (Theol.) In the Roman Catholic Church, the supposed actual presence of Christ's body and blood in the Eucharist, the bread and wine being supposed to be converted into the real body and blood of the Saviour by the priest.-(ra'al.)
