Hitch

(hich.) [From Swed. hake, ahook.] (Naut.) On shipboard, a sort of knot or noose for the belaying or fastening ofa rope or hawser; they are of various kinds, and bear names distinctive of the character of the knot, as ahalf-hitch, a rolling-hitch, a clove-hitch, and so on.(Geol.) A slight dislocation in a vein or lode. [s. 457]
