Linseed

(lin'-sed). See Linum. L. Oil, Oleum lin i, i expre ed from the seeds of the Linum usitati imuir or flax-plant. By cold pre ure is obtained a pah tastele oil, which is used in Ru ia and Polan in cooking, as a substitute for lard or butter. By war pre ure an amber-colored or dark-yellow oil is ol; tained. Linseed oil is, when fresh, somewhat viscii, but as a drying-oil it gradually absorbs oxygen, an becomes thick and eventually dry and hard. It is use Linguetta (ling-givef '-ah). A small tongue.
