The Symptoms of an attack are described under diphtheria. The treatment of simple croup is to epply a hot sponge or fomentations to the throat on to inhale steam. The use of ipecacuanha wine as an emetic is recommended by high author i tics, but as this is dangerous in diphtheritic croup, and as the two form a of croup cannot be distinguished exeept by an experienced eye, we advise this treatment to be pare nce till after the doctor's arrival.
