Clarinet

CLARIONET, (klar'e-net.) [Fr. clarinet te.] (Mus.) A musical wind-instrument which is played by holes and keys, and whose mouth is trumpet-shaped. It is made of wood and, like the oboe, is played with a reed mouthpiece. It is said to have been invented in Germany in 1600. [s. 194]
