Siphon

or SyrHon, in hydraulics, 4 bended pipe, one end of which being put into a ve el of liquor, and the other hanging out of the said ve el over another, the liquor will run out from the first into the last, after the air has been sucked out of the external or lower end of the siphon, and that as long as the liquor in the upper ve el is above the upper orifice of the siphon. The motion of water or other liquid through the siphon, depends entirely upon atmospheric re ure. See HyDRAULICS.
