hen, n. The female of any fowl, esp. of the domestic fowl.— Hen'bane, n. A plant poisonous to domestic fowls: all parts of the plant are highly narcotic, and it is used in medicine as a substitute for opium: hyoscyamus. Hence, hens, adv. From this place, this time, this cause or reason, or this source, origin, or cause. — Henceforth'' or Hence'forth, Hence for'ward, adv. From this time forward.
