An ancient province of Asia Minor; in the 3d century B.C. , the Gauls under Brennus invaded Greece, cro ed the Hellespont, and conquered Troas, 278; were checked by Attalus in a battle about 239; and then settled in what was called afterwards Gallogræcia and Galatia. The country was ravaged by Cn. Manlius, 189 B.C. , and was finally annexed to the Roman empire, 25 B.C.
