(David), Welsh deist, b. Cardigans hire, 1738. He became a di enting minister but after publishing two volumes of Sermons on Religious Hypocrisy , 1774, di olved the connections. In conjunction with Franklin and others he founded a club and drew up a Liturgy on the Universal Principles of Religion and Morality , which he used at a Deistic chapel opened in Margaret Street, Cavendish Square, 7 April, 1776. He wrote various political and educational works, and established the literary fund in 1789. Died Soho, London, 29 June, 1816.
