Long, narrow, flat-bottomed boat with raised prow at each end especially adapted for use on the canals of IMG:content-0342.png:[graphic] IMG:content-0343.png:[graphic] IMG:content-0344.png:[graphic][merged small][merged small] Gondola. Venice and some other parts of Italy. It is manned with one or two gondoliers, who propel it with long, single oars.
