In botany, a prominence consisting in of an aggregation of rudimentary structures destined to develop into a leaf or a flower, taste b's. Ovoid or flask shaped bodies situated around the circumvallate papillae of the tongue, with their apices projecting between the epithelial cells in the form of filaments. They have been thought to be organs of taste, but they occur where there is no sense of taste.
