Intellect

(in'tel-lekt.) [L. intellect us.] (Phil.) That faculty of the human soul or mind which perceives or understands, or which receives or comprehends the ideas communicated to it by the senses or by perception, or by other means; otherwise called the understanding. [s. 488]
