Periodic motion compounded of two or more commensurate simple harmonic motions. Further. Fourier's theorem states that any periodic motion is compounded of a definite number of commensurate simple harmonic motions; and this is true not only of the motion, which may be represented by a more or le complex curve, but also of any phenomenon which this curve may represent.
